Overview

At the Wells Clinic, we believe that health screening and preventative medicine is very important, which is why we offer Wellman and Wellwoman checks to anyone who would like one. Our comprehensive medicals help you to check and ensure that you remain in tip-top condition. There are many elements within human biochemistry which, if abnormal, do not necessarily cause any symptoms such as raised cholesterol, blood sugar or abnormal kidney or liver function. It is therefore helpful to screen for any abnormalities so they can be picked up at an early stage and monitor as appropriate in order to avoid health problems in the future.

Wellman Medical

Tailored to the person's needs in terms of age and past medical problems.

60 minutes spent with the doctor for your initial appointment- you no longer need to fast prior to your blood test as the validity of your blood sugar and cholesterol tests will not be effected by this.

Full history taken of any medical complaints past and present.

Full top to toe examination including listening to your heart and lungs, examining the abdomen, nervous system and genital examination for any testicular lumps(optional) and prostate examination(optional).

Body mass index(BMI) measurement

Blood pressure measurement, Heart rate, Respiratory rate, Oxygen saturation.

Includes a full range of blood tests including a full blood count, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, thyroid function, Prostate-specific antigen, vitamin D, folate, iron, gout test, calcium. Extra tests can be done at an additional cost.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)( If indicated. Incurs extra cost £95)

Any specialist referrals or scan requests needed.

Following your medical you will receive a full digital medical report with a copy of all the clinical findings including your blood results. Any abnormal results will be detailed within the report. You are encouraged to book a follow up appointment costing £45 to go through your results face to face with one of our clinicians.

Wellwoman Medical

Tailored to the person's needs in terms of age and past medical problems.

60 minutes spent with the doctor for your initial appointment- you no longer need to fast prior to your blood test as the validity of your blood sugar and cholesterol tests will not be effected by this.

Full history taken of any medical complaints past and present.

Full top to toe examination including listening to your heart and lungs, examining the abdomen, nervous system and breast examination for any breast lumps(optional).

Body mass index(BMI) measurement

Blood pressure measurement, Heart rate, Respiratory rate, Oxygen saturation.

Includes a full range of blood tests including a full blood count, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, thyroid function, iron, B12, vitamin D, gout test, calcium. Extra tests may be done at an additional cost.

A Cervical Smear test if indicated. (Incurs extra charge of £165)

Taxi Medical

As NHS GPs are often too busy to perform these medicals for their patients, you can visit a private GP in order to have this completed.

What do I need to bring?

You will need a printed copy of your full NHS medical record provided by your surgery in a sealed envelope which the private doctor will review.

What else can I do to prepare?

If you wear glasses or have sight issues it would be beneficial to get an Optician to complete the section regarding the eye assessment so any problems can be remedied as soon as possible.

What if I have existing medical conditions?

If you have any ongoing medication conditions or health problems for which you take regular medication, you may be asked by the private doctor to seek an up to date review of these before they can complete and sign the medical form. Our private doctor can help you with these reviews if your NHS is unavailable.
