Convenient, Accurate, and At-Home: Detect Bowel Cancer Early with ColoAlert® Technology

Early detection is crucial for successfully treating bowel cancer, one of the most prevalent cancers in the UK. To aid in early detection, we offer our Bowel Cancer Screening Test, an at-home solution that can detect DNA changes and blood in the stool. This could indicate the presence of cancerous or precancerous growths in the bowel. Our screening test uses the ColoAlert® technology, an award-winning next-generation home screening test for colorectal cancer. It is specifically designed to detect changes in the bowel more accurately and at an earlier stage than the standard FIT test.

What it includes

  • At-home testing kit
  • Lab analysis and results sent via secure email
  • Follow-up consultation with a GP

Why take a bowel cancer test

  1. Bowel cancer is a significant health concern in the UK, with 42,000 new cases annually, making it the fourth most common cancer.
  2. Shockingly, it is also the second leading cause of death, with 16,300 deaths each year.
  3. Late diagnosis and poor prognosis are common due to poor screening uptake, with 73% diagnosed at a later stage.
  4. Even those under 50 are at risk, with 10% of colorectal cancer cases diagnosed in younger people.

Recommended frequency of testing

It is recommended to take the ColoAlert® test every three years from the age of 45. This test provides a convenient and easy way to detect possible signs of bowel cancer, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to seek early treatment if necessary.

Why do a Bowel Cancer Screening Test?

Bowel cancer screening is a test that aims to find cancer at an early stage when treatment is likely to be more effective. Early detection is vital. At least 9 out of 10 people will survive bowel cancer if it’s found and treated early.

What is Bowel Cancer Screening Test?

The Bowel Cancer Screening Test, known as ColoAlert®, is a next-generation, award-winning home screening test for colorectal cancer. It is designed to detect changes in the bowel more accurately and earlier than the standard FIT test. It is recommended to take the test every three years starting at the age of 45.

Do I need to see a GP first to have the test done?

You can purchase the test directly without seeing a doctor.

How does it work?

The Bowel Cancer Screening Test combines the traditional FIT test with advanced German-engineered stool DNA technology to detect blood and mutated DNA in the stool. This combination allows for the early detection of bowel cancer (colorectal cancer) before any symptoms or bleeding may occur.

How accurate is the bowel cancer screening test?

You can order our Bowel Cancer Screening Test online or by phone 0n 01737 824 922.

How long does getting the Bowel Cancer Screening Test results take?

You can expect to receive your Bowel Cancer Screening Test results within 5-7 working days from the time we receive your sample.

What should I do if my Bowel Cancer Screening Test results are positive?

If your Bowel Cancer Screening Test results are positive, it does not necessarily mean that you have bowel cancer, but it does indicate the need for further testing. You should consult your doctor to discuss your next steps.

Can I use the Bowel Cancer Screening Test if I am currently experiencing bowel symptoms?

No, our Bowel Cancer Screening Test is not intended for individuals experiencing bowel symptoms. If you are experiencing symptoms such as changes in bowel habits or rectal bleeding, you should contact your doctor immediately.

What biomarkers are tested?

Our Bowel Cancer Screening Test checks for the following biomarkers:

  • Blood in the stool (FIT) - detects hidden blood in the stool, which may indicate bowel cancer and can also be from more benign causes like Piles.
  • Haptoglobin-haemoglobin complex (Hb-Hp) - detects hidden blood in stool and is more sensitive and superior than FIT alone as it is relatively stable during its transit through the bowels.
  • Mutated KRAS gene in the stool - are found in bowel cancer and bowel polyps and are related to poor survival and increased tumour aggressiveness.
  • Mutated BRAF gene in the stool - are found in bowel cancer and bowel polyps and are related to poor survival.
  • Quantification of human (h)DNA determines the relative amounts of human DNA in the stool and is increased in bowel cancer samples.
